Weekly update 48

Today or tomorrow I will submit my first postdoc application, and so begins the process of discovering life after graduate school. This week I've been working on said application, which is interesting to me for two reasons. First, grant-funded postdoc applications seem to be very short, requiring only a cover letter, CV, and reference contacts (or sometimes letters). I had expected application materials to just keep getting longer and more tedious as you moved up the ranks; perhaps not so. Second, since the application packet is so small, I am amazed that I am spending this long on it. I guess that's a strike against reduced tedium...
